Security: Obiano presents 33 vehicles, motorbikes to Security agencies

In keeping to his promise and commitment towards ensuring maximum security of lives and properties of citizens, Gov Willie Obiano has presented thirteen(13)vehicles and twenty (20)motorbikes to security agencies in the state.
The vehicles which are all four-wheel trucks were distributed to the state Police Command which got five and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) also got five, while the Anambra State Vigilante Service got three too.
The 20 motorbikes were also given to the NSCDC.
During the presentation, Gov Obiano explained that they were provided as requested by the agencies to boost their operational capacity in ensuring that the state remains very safe.
He noted that his administration having come with a mission to make the state a first choice investment destination and hub for commercial activities, it was imperative to address the insecurity that had held sway in the state, hence his huge investment in the sector.
The governor revealed that all the vehicles were procured from an indigenous manufacturer in keeping with his administration’s resolve to continue to patronize locally-manufactured products. He called on the agencies to put the vehicles to proper use.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu acknowledged that though security is capital intensive, the present administration was not relenting because it strongly believes that security was the bedrock for any meaningful development anywhere.
Responding, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar, thanked the Governor for the gesture which he described as clearly marking his interest in the welfare of Ndi Anambra and assured that the vehicles would be duly deployed to serve the people.
On their part, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr John Ahwen and the Commander of the State Vigilante Services, Retired Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba commended the governor for his decision to bring everyone in the security business on board which has engendered coordination in their efforts, noting that with the vehicles, they were now better poised to achieve greater result in their responsibility of protecting lives and property.
The governor was also during the event presented with a letter of appreciation in acknowledgment of his benevolence in providing financial assistance to the families of 3 policemen and one DSS officer who died in the build-up to the just concluded Anambra Governorship election.
