The traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Sir Ben Emeka has expressed gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano for embarking on massive road
construction and other developmental projects in Umueri, Anambra East Council Area.
Njideka OKoye reports that Igwe Emeka gave the commendation while speaking with the ABS in an interview at Umueri.
The Umueri traditional ruler noted with satisfaction that over four road projects in Umueri have been completed by the Obiano administration, while Ogbu-mgbede road under construction is nearing completion.
Igwe Emeka who is also the contractor of the construction company handling the project stated the importance of the road to Umueri as an Agrarian community, adding that it will help in evacuation of farm produce from the rural areas to their major market and other markets in the state.
He thanked the state Government for their trust and believe in indigenous contractors and for using him to bring development to his community and assured that he will not relent in building a quality road that will stand the test of time and also complete it before the specified period.
On the twenty million naira choose your project initiative of Governor Obiano, Igwe Emeka noted that in the first phase, Umueri community choose building of standard civic centre of five hundred sitting capacity and finished it before the time given by the state government.
He explained that in the second phase, the community is building skill acquisition centre for its youths and standard library to be completed before the end of this month as it remains only fencing and other minor works.
Thanking Governor Obiano for his even distribution of democracy dividends that has brought development across communities in the state, Igwe Emeka advised the youths of Umueri to make use of skill acquisition centre to learn skills for self reliance.
He used the opportunity to commend the Federal Government for renaming the Federal University Ndufu Alike, Ikwo Ebonyi state after former Vice President of Nigeria Late Dr Alex Ekwueme which he described as a deserved honour because of his contributions to nation building.
