Presidency Dismissed Recent Utterances By Obasanjo, Tags It A Sign Of Confusion

Published

on

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said that whomever Obasanjo chooses to support at the 2019 elections is irrelevant, as the former president had publicly changed his mind on the matter so many times over the past few months alone.
Shehu added that he was not surprised that newspapers reported Obasanjo expressing neutrality at a weekend forum, only for the former president to express a completely different stance after a day or two.
In the words of the Presidential media aide:
“We have learnt not to take his utterances seriously anymore.
“We know that the slightest wind can make him change his mind again. After all, this is the same man who publicly tore his party registration card barely four years ago, and he now claims to be backing the same party,”

Group dares Atiku to use U.S. Visa, offers 1st class tickets

Published

on

No Alternative To Buhari-Osinbajo 2019, a political campaign group, has dared the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to make use of his widely acclaimed United States Visa.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Coordinator, Mr Vincent Uba, the group dared Atiku to prove to Nigerians and the World that he was not ‘a persona non grata’ to the World’s biggest democracy, the U.S.
It stated that just as the Party, the PDP widely celebrated the acclaimed Visa, Nigerians had expected that the PDP candidate would have already travelled.
The group therefore offered to pay first class return tickets on any flight for Atiku to prove the validity of his United States Visa.
“In making this offer, the NATBuhariOsinbajo is not unaware that Mr Atiku Abubakar, though, stupendously and inexplicably rich could be conserving his funds to, in his characteristics manner, attempt to buy as much votes as possible on election day.
“However, this offer to Mr Atiku Abubakar has become necessary to ensure that only persons who are not subject of corrupt enrichment and/or FBI investigations offers themselves for highest office in Nigeria.
“As Nigerians cannot afford to have the nation’s image ridiculed in International and global meetings and gatherings of Presidents were her leader could be picked up or issued arrest warrants.
“It remains inexplicable, that two days after the visa was said to have been issued to Mr Atiku Abubakar and advertised with pomp and pageantry, Mr Atiku deceived Nigerians that he was travelling to the United Kingdom, from where he would go to America, only for him to return home from the United Kingdom, when perhaps, he got wind of what awaited him in the United States of America.
“NATBuhariOsinbajo 2019 challenges Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to come clean and confess his sins that have made it difficult for him to step his foot on the American soil for some years or in the alternative pick up his first class return ticket from the NATBuhariOsinbajo office at 7, Association Avenue, Ilupeju, Lagos,” it said.
The group insisted that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has not denied his comments that the American government wrote to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission of Nigeria in June 2006, on its intention to investigate Atiku Abubakar on corruption related charges.
It therefore urged Atiku to prove himself one way or another rather than making a fuss about a non-existent visa to the U.S.

Buhari:Mischief Makers, Behind My Cloned Rumors

Published

on

The President lashed out yesterday at the purveyors of the rumour that he was dead and the occupant of his seat is a clone.
The sponsors of the rumour are “ignorant and irreligious”, President Muhammmadu Buhari said yesterday in Poland.
There have been rumours that the real Buhari was dead and the person occupying the number one seat is another person or a clone, a Jibrin from Sudan or Niger.
The government has been warning Nigerians to shun fake news, stressing the security implication of such news items.
Reacting to the rumours of his clone for the first time, Buhari said many people had hoped he was dead during his ill health.
The President was responding to a question from a Nigerian who wanted to know if he was the real Buhari or the much talked about Jibril from Sudan, at a town hall meeting in Krakow, Poland.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President said: “It’s real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong.’’
He added: “A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health. Some even reached out to the Vice President to consider them to be his deputy because they assumed I was dead. That embarrassed him a lot and, of course, he visited me when I was in London convalescing… It’s real me; I assure you.”
The President said he was looking forward to celebrating his 76th birthday on December 17 and jocularly added: ‘‘If I am getting harassed by anyone, it is my grandchildren, who are getting too many.’’
He told his audience that his administration will continue to maintain focus and deliver on the three focal points of his campaign in 2015: security, economy and the fight against corruption.
‘‘Those in the Northeast will tell you that in spite of the recent setbacks, there is a difference between the time we came and before.
‘‘We are not doing badly on security, economy and agriculture. We have virtually stopped the importation of food, especially rice and we are saving a lot of money.
‘‘We now have food security and that has come with fiscal security because a lot of young educated people have not regretted going back to the farms and earning a respectable living.
‘‘I am afraid, this is not receiving good publicity… but a lot of people in the rural areas are enjoying the benefits of our interventions in agriculture,’’ he said.
President Buhari, who is in Poland to attend the UN Climate Change Conference, COP24, reaffirmed that no territory of Nigeria is under the control of Boko Haram terrorists. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and supportive of the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure the security of lives and property in the country.
While acknowledging that it has not been easy financing the security sector, the President said the Armed Forces were equal to the task.
He noted that it was regrettable that herdsmen and farmers’ clashes had been politicised, promising that the government will keep prioritising security because that is what many investors consider first before investing in the country.
On the fight against corruption, Buhari said all recovered stolen assets will be sold and the proceeds returned to the treasury for the benefit of Nigerians.
On women representation in his administration, the President told the meeting: ‘‘I have plans for all Nigerians. I am not a male chauvinist. If I’m a chauvinist, will I give the Finance ministry to women?’’
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Poland, Mr Eric Adagogo Bell-Gam, praised Nigerians living in the country for being worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.
Among those who met President Buhari were Mr Larry Ugwu, an artist and curator, who has lived in Poland for 40 years and has contributed immensely to promoting Nigerian cultural heritage in the Polish society; Anthony Egwuatu, a gynaecologist, who has lived in the country for 30 years and Mr Olomofe Larry, a human rights activist, who has fought for justice for fellow Nigerians in the host country.
The event was organised by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President Diaspora and Foreign Affairs.

Oyo 2019 :Ajimobi Versus The Masses, Oyo Decide /Ismaila Ashipa

Published

on

Its normal and usual for ruling parties to be apprehensive or jittery of what the future foretold as election period comes closer. Especially in states where there are cracks or depletion in the rank and file of membership of the parties holding the reign of government and also where the opposition parties are daily gathering momentum.
In our part of the world where there is abject poverty, a government is considered to be humane and preferable if she promotes more stomach infrastructures than physical development. If what the people considered to be their immediate welfare is readily made available. But if the stomach ‘infrastructurally’ based administration of the O’yato governor of Oyo state could lose in 2011 and that of Oshokomole of Ekiti could likewise be defeated in 2018, stomach infrastructure alone isn’t therefore a yardstick to winning elections.
As the February general elections draw near, the 8 year APC administration in Oyo ll be summoned to the court of the people. It all depends on how much the people appreciate the many laudable programmes of Governor AJIMOBI. The foreign investment operating in Oyo state, the structural face lift, the clean environment, security of lives and property, the dual carriage road, the Model Schools, the prompt payment of salaries, the reorganisation of the Ibadan Obaship, the unusual levies, the closure of our tertiary institutions, etc. If all the above had gone well with the majority people of Oyo state, continuity and consolidation is assured. And if not, explanations and convincing excuses have to be offered.
However, Oyo 2019 isn’t between the APC and the opposition parties nor is it between Chief Bayo Adelabu and opposition candidates, rather, it is strictly between Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi and the masses. Therefore, it won’t be an overstatement to say that AJIMOBI is the only Oyo state APC Candidate in 2019. Best wishes.

APC will win 2019 elections – Adams Oshiomhole

Published

on

The National Chairman of the governing party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole has said that all relevant positions will be won by the party come 2019 general elections.
Oshiomhole made the statement while receiving hundreds of thousands of decampees from the PDP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement into the APC in a grand rally held at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano state north Western Nigeria.
He said right from the presidency to national and state Assemblies as well as Governorship will be won by the APC.
“We will surely win the 2019 election in order to serve the people more. Nigeria is now growing from strength to strength and we shall be victorious at the end.
“Nigerians can never go back. We must move on. In another mandate for President Buhari and other position for APC, we will witness sustainable growth, development and happiness for the good of the average Nigerian,” he assured.
He said the victory is possible because all the progressives have come together under APC to reinforce power to sustain the nation’s democracy.
“Never again should this country be governed by opportunists. President Muhammadu Buhari’s constituency is the army of the poor. We are building a country where those who work will be able to eat, not those who use telephones to make billions without working for it,” Oshiomole stressed.
He said Nigeria needs a leader with honour, integrity, and trust; and that is President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Whether in America, they appreciate him, in Britain, they appreciate him, and other Africa Heads of State appreciate him. And of course, we the ordinary people appreciate him,” he said.
He hailed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his steadfastness in sustaining the manifesto of the APC.
“Politics is on the ground and it is played by real people. When you promised to deliver five million votes I know you will do so because people of Kano state belongs to President Buhari; and President Muhammadu Buhari belongs to the people of Kano state,” emphasized the APC Chairman.
Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who presented the decampees to the National Chairman said: “today, APC is the greatest party in Nigeria, and in Africa. APC is the only party in Kano state. We have the highest number of party members; our intention is to provide the highest number of votes for APC in Nigeria.
“We have here today, the former governor of Kano state, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and his thousands of supports who have decamped to APC from PDP. We also have 53 leaders and their supporters from the Kwankwassiya movement that have also decamped to APC.”
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, two-time Governor of the state, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau said: “today is a moment to reckon with history. On behalf of all my supporters, well-wishers far and near who have joined us to move into APC, it is a great pleasure for us to be part of APC.”

United Progressive Party and NGO endorse President Buhari

Published

The Igboezue Cultural Advancement Initiative, a non-governmental organisation in Nigeria, has resolved to collaborate with the United Progressive Party, a political party in the country, to chart the political way forward for Ndigbo in Nigeria.
Consequently Igbiezue expresses total agreement with the UPP in her resolve as encapsulated in the party’s manifesto and in the principles of its constitution concerning restructuring, state policing and community policing amongst others.
While holding these principles sacrosanct, the Igboezue also aligned with the UPP in its decision to endorse and adopt President Muhammad Buhari as presidential Candidate for the 2019 elections.
Addressing newsmen after wide consultations, the Leader of Igboezue cultural advancement Initiative, Chief Chekwas Okorie said the cultural group would do everything within its powers to ensure that Ndigbo do not put their political eggs in one basket either now or in the future.
Pave way for a patriotic Igboman
“We shall work for the completion of President Buhari’s second term in office to pave the way for a patriotic Igboman or woman to be elected President of Nigeria come 2023.”
“In this regard, we strongly believe that four more years of Buhari is far better than the possible eight years of Atiku Abubakar.”We are conscious of the truth that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has not made any form of commitment to the restructuring of Nigeria or the much desired Igbo President anytime in the future,” Chekwas said.
Igboezue is resolutely committed to joining hands to mobilise all extant Igbo Associations nationwide to reposition the Igbo Political engagement with the rest if Nigeria, the forum stated.
